SAVE LIDS TO SAVE LIVES
Just wanted to take this brief opportunity to tell about a fantastic new program being put on by the Yoplait yogurt company. In this program Yoplait are donating a full dime to the Susan G. Komen breasts cancer foundation for every lid which is mailed into the company by December 31, 2006, up to a total of $1.5 MILLION. As I am sure everyone knows, who has spent any time around Electric Sensations, the Susan G. Komen foundation is our number one favorite charity organization with a full 5% of our net profits going to the Arkansas chapter of the foundation.
Some people have asked us why breast cancer and why Susan G. Komen foundation? Our support for the Susan G. Komen foundation dates back to the very beginning of Electric Sensations, over two years ago when Cheryl and I first started writing ideas down on a steno pad. We were compiling basic demographic data about who we considered would be our primary customers, generally speaking open minded women aged 25-55. A short time later while browsing the internet, I came across some statistics concerning breast cancer which said that breast cancer was the over all leading cause of cancer deaths among women aged 20-59. Then I saw the statistic where over 1,000,000 American women had died from breast cancer since 1970. We began to see that these were our customers. WE felt that we should do something about it, but it wasn't until I read the story of Susan and Nancy and the Komen Breast cancer foundation. The story touched us and at that point we knew how we could help.
Which leads us to our collection of Yoplait lids. I went to the Yoplait site and downloaded some materials for collecting lids such as posters and collection can covers. I have set these up out at work with a personal letter asking others to bring in their yoplait lids and help in the fight against breast cancer.
Enough about us, our call to action for you is to also go out and buy Yoplait lids and send in your lids so we can wipe out breast cancer.
